The Nut:
Climb or Chairlift: Either walk up or take the chairlift to the top of this ancient volcanic plug and enjoy panoramic views of the town, beaches, and farmlands.
Nature Walks: Once on top, there are short walking trails suitable for kids.
Penguin Viewing: Stanley is home to the Little Penguin, and there are opportunities to watch these adorable creatures return to their nests at dusk. Visit the formal Penguin viewing area on Godfrey’s Beach each night, or walk along the path on Tatlow’s Beach in front of the Park. You’re sure to see these little creatures. Please take care and stay well away from the Penguins, and don’t shine torches at them.
Tarkine Drive Adventure: This is a circuit drive that takes you through some of Tasmania's beautiful wilderness areas where kids can witness unique flora and fauna. You can take shorter day trips such as Trowutta Arch and Milkshake Hills. Also Dip Falls is great short walk for kids.
The Stanley Heritage Walk (Under the Nut): An educational and informative self guided walk around the township of Stanley.The walk explores history, architecture and culture. QR code technology enables the user to experience the walk using their mobile devices with the addition of photos and interactive voice recordings of each location.Time frame is approx 1hr 15 mins. Each location has an information board placed to easily read additional details of each property/location.
Historic Highfield House: Let the kids learn a little about the history of the area by visiting this beautifully preserved site. The grounds are also great for a picnic.
Beach Games: Whether it's cricket, volleyball, or simply tossing a frisbee, the beach provides a vast playground. Building sandcastles, searching for seashells, or just playing chase with the waves are timeless activities.
Play golf: There’s a 9 hole golf course near the Park which is great for beginners.
Bike Riding: The gentle terrain and scenic routes make Stanley an ideal location for family bike rides. It's not just about the destination but the journey, the sights, and sounds along the way. Bring your bikes and take the path along behind Tatlow’s Beach for a circuit past the golf course and back around to the Park.

Blue Hills Honey Farm and Restaurant (child and pet friendly). There’s a sign on the side of the road if they are open.
Stanley Discovery Museum and Genealogy Centre: Dive into the history of the town, which might be more suitable for older kids who have an interest in the past. This museum is ran by volunteers, so opening times do vary.
Fishing: Casting a line off the jetty or beach can become a day's adventure. The thrill of the catch, the patience it teaches, and the stories that emerge from these experiences are priceless. Whether it's from the jetty or on the beach, introduce your kids to the joys of fishing.
Local Playgrounds: Sometimes, the simplest pleasures like a playground can entertain kids for hours. There’s a small playground adjacent to our Park, and a second playground near Godfrey’s Beach.
Wharf Area: Explore the old wharf, see if you can spot some marine life, and enjoy some fish and chips.
